NONSTOP Sail & Lequin Executive Coaching have joined forces to launch a two-day leadership programme with a difference. Business organisations can now participate in a team development and leadership skills building on board yachts, under the expert instruction of both qualified yachtsmen and executive coaches. The first event will take place at Dartmouth on the 19th and 20th September 2007. Future Publishing’s magazines are distributed and marketed through Seymour Distribution, and both are sending key teams to build the bonds between the companies and to develop team members’ leadership skills. The event will take place on board two Dehler 39 yachts sailing from Dartmouth harbour. Team building and leadership exercises, such as blind navigation, will be supported by be-briefs and coaching exercises on dry land. Marie Willis, Co-director at Lequin Executive Coaching, said: “Due to the need for superb team working, communication and understanding sailing is an ideal environment for developing teams and leaders. The format of the day and exercises we have planned will also help individuals improve self awareness, and just as importantly, awareness of other people’s strengths and character, which in an office environment often remain hidden.” NONSTOP Sail’s Chief Instructor, Ben Board adds: “To take an executive from a city job and put them in an unfamiliar environment at sea brings out the best in people, be it the MD or the a young trainee, sailing a yacht only works when the whole team come together; and it can be surprising as to who is really the best team leader!" This is Lequin Executive Coaching’s second sports-related leadership development course, after launching Triathlon 4 Business on 2006.
